About This Role

We're seeking an experienced Digital Engineering Director to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our engineering leadership, you'll play a pivotal role in driving our innovative projects forward. You'll be part of a highly talented and motivated development team, leading a team of skilled engineers and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of excellent Backend engineers, overseeing the development of both end-to-end services and core infrastructure components.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams within Via, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Develop, own, and execute the team's roadmap, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
  • Oversee project objectives to enhance and support the overall product strategy.
  • Play a central role in managing, coaching, and fostering the growth of your engineering team.
  • Guide and mentor team members to ensure they deliver exceptional results by promoting best practices and addressing technical challenges on projects requiring advanced technical expertise.
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful application design.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years in a technical leadership role.
  • Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in Python, Java, or other high-level programming languages, 2 years of which must be in Python.
  • Minimum of 6 years of backend development and databases experience.
  • Proven record of developing and scaling products that are highly available, distributed, and large scale.
  • Clear communication (written and verbal) is crucial to our success. You should be able to formulate your ideas concisely, and communicate complex information succinctly.
  • Ability to drive work forward independently in a cross-functional, geographically distributed team environment.
  • Experience with cloud platforms.
