About the Role

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineering Manager will be responsible for the design and delivery of all machined, fabricated, and formed parts used in our products. This role requires a strong understanding of SolidWorks, drawing standards, tolerances, materials, manufacturing, and fabrication techniques. The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills, including CAD design, mechanical engineering, and testing.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the development and maintenance of manufactured, fabricated, and formed parts, including specification, design, initial procurement, assembly, and testing.
  2. Lead a team of Mechanical Design Engineers, providing guidance and leadership.
  3. Ensure that the information held on the ERP system is up to date and relevant for all designed machined and fabricated parts.
  4. Ensure that designs meet regulatory and safety requirements and that all Engineering drawings meet the requirements of BS8888.
  5. Oversee the Mechanical Design aspects of the Development plan, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery.
  6. Identify and address technical issues related to mechanical design, manufacturability, and costs throughout the development process.
  7. Collaborate with the team to ensure that projects and tasks are completed within the constraints of the project plan.
  8. Contribute to the production of assembly instructions, service manuals, and operator manuals.
Requirements
  1. Strong understanding of Mechanical design, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
  2. Knowledge of additive manufacturing and 3D printing capabilities.
  3. Understanding of mechanical design for EMC performance.
  4. Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
  5. Able to use data to drive informed decisions and continuous improvement.
  6. Familiarity with quality control tools and methodologies.
  7. Attention to detail, with the ability to ensure high-quality mechanical parts.
Qualifications and Experience
  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, product design, or a related field.
  2. At least 8+ years of experience in Mechanical engineering, design, and product development.
  3. Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring design tasks.
  4. Proven experience in Mechanical design and product development, with a track record of contributing to successful product launches.
