Job Description: DevOps Engineer - Platform Automation

We are seeking a skilled and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust DevOps pipelines for our application development teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement build and deployment pipelines using GitLab CI/CD to streamline the software delivery process.
  • Collaborate with application teams to migrate existing applications to standardized DevOps pipelines, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation, automating the provisioning and configuration of resources.
  • Implement a platform orchestrator to enforce standardized configurations across multiple AWS accounts, promoting scalability and maintainability.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools to monitor applications, ensuring compliance with firm standards and identifying potential issues proactively.
  • Participate in code reviews for team members, fostering a culture of quality and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of our developer platform portal using React, Typescript, Express, and Postgres.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in software development with a focus on DevOps practices.
  • Hands-on expertise with deployment technologies, including cloud infrastructure (AWS), Kubernetes, Docker, and GitLab CI/CD.
  • Strong understanding of Linux scripting and deployment methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Python development and packaging using tools like conda, wheel, poetry, or setuptools.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, HTTP, firewalls, and reverse proxy software (e.g., Nginx, Caddy).

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with the Backstage framework for developer portals.
  • Full-stack development experience using React and Typescript.
  • Familiarity with data science technologies, including Spark, Dask, Parquet, Apache Hadoop, Hive, Presto, SQL, Postgres, and Immuta.
