Job Overview

Momart is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our Packing and Casemaking Department as a Arts Packaging Specialist. This full-time, permanent position involves handling and shipping fragile works of art, requiring a high level of care and attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will possess practical skills, a flexible attitude, and a keen sense of responsibility. They will be a team player with excellent communication skills, able to work closely with other technicians and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safe handling of artworks using lifting equipment appropriate to the task.
  • Fabrication and preparation of packing systems, linings, and wraps.
  • Operation of plant and machinery within the workshop in accordance with Momart's training and operation procedures.
  • Executing tasks in an expedient and timely manner.
  • Manual handling of a range of objects, some of which may be heavy.
  • Wrapping and packing fragile art objects (intensive training provided).
  • Completion of operational paperwork.
  • Assessing and recording the condition of artworks.
  • Following procedures as required by company security policy.
  • Communicating with job planners and coordinators as necessary.
  • Taking responsibility for informing supervisors of stock levels.
  • Maintaining a safe and tidy workshop environment.
  • Working closely with other technicians, sharing skills and knowledge in a proactive way.
  • Following Health & Safety procedures according to company policy, in line with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.

Requirements:

  • Flexible individual with ability to adapt to changing work hours.
  • Able to work closely with other technicians.
  • Understanding of the fragility and importance of the items being handled.
  • Approachable communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Conscientious individual with a positive, motivated, vigilant, and responsible attitude.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of Momart's security program and their role in it.
  • Assists colleagues, customers, and suppliers in resolving security issues and escalating where necessary.
