Senior Financial Officer - London
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Officer to join our dedicated finance team.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in the preparation of statutory financial statements in accordance with Charity SORP and demonstrate a strong background in VAT partial exemption.
Charity People is collaborating with a prominent organization in the charity sector, looking to enhance their finance department with a talented individual. You will report directly to the Finance Director and work closely with a committed finance team.
Applicants for this position must hold a recognized CCAB qualification and have substantial experience in VAT partial exemption and various taxation matters.
Compensation: £60,000 per annum
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent, 35 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Flexible home working with occasional office presence
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare month-end journals for income adjustments.
- Manage monthly staff cost duties, including salary journal preparation, payroll reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review management accounts coding and make necessary corrections.
- Conduct bank and other balance sheet reconciliations as required.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and annual adjustments, including partial exemption calculations.
- Post quarterly VAT journals and perform balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist the Finance Director in maintaining the VAT documentation.
- Prepare and submit the annual PSA return and manage related payments.
- Handle forms and correspondence related to Withholding Tax matters.
- Provide support to the Finance Officer on employment tax inquiries.
- Assist the Finance Director with Corporation Tax matters.
- Develop templates for budget and forecast submissions from budget holders.
- Calculate and upload the VAT budget and forecast using the VAT model.
- Complete the preparation of annual statutory accounts in compliance with SORP requirements.
Qualifications Required:
- A recognized CCAB qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
- Experience in VAT returns, including complex partial exemption calculations, and knowledge of Charity Taxation.
- Strong background in preparing accounts according to Charity SORP.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
