Key Responsibilities
- Guide and mentor a high-achieving team to ensure excellence in all facets of Medicinal Chemistry.
- Provide strategic and scientific leadership to enhance innovation and portfolio performance.
- Contribute to the overarching leadership within the Medicinal Chemistry and DMPK group, aligning with our therapeutic innovation strategy.
- Collaborate across disciplines, integrating medicinal chemistry with computational methods, pharmacology, and structural biology to develop effective hit finding strategies.
- Oversee the delivery of compounds that meet pre-IND candidate criteria.
- Lead drug discovery projects as necessary, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Act as a recognized leader, representing the department in various therapeutic projects and collaborative initiatives.
- Champion equality and diversity in all decision-making processes.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry or equivalent professional experience.
- Extensive background in medicinal chemistry within a drug discovery context, particularly in Lead Optimization and Candidate delivery.
- Established reputation in the field, demonstrated through a robust professional network, publications, and patents.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong ability to influence and lead.
- Proven experience in developing and managing a diverse, high-caliber team in a collaborative project environment.
- Experience in fostering external academic and industrial partnerships and leading technology initiatives.
- Track record of achieving results across diverse projects by driving strategic and scientific initiatives.
- Ability to navigate the intersection of pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, and computational chemistry to deliver impactful insights.
- Forward-thinking and strategic mindset.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage multiple stakeholders and collaborate effectively.
- Passion for promoting scientific excellence through publications and presentations.
