About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Developer to join our team at Lockheed Martin in Gloucester. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software applications for various Defence, Cyber, and Intelligence programmes.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, with experience in Java 17, Linux, and Agile Development using SCRUM. You will be working in a collaborative environment, contributing to the development of new capabilities and transforming existing ones to a strategic platform.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing software applications for mission-critical applications
  • Applying knowledge of software engineering best practices
  • Ensuring software compliance standards are met
  • Researching new technologies for use and adaptation in programmes and R&D projects
  • Transforming requirements into software design and code
  • Identifying and employing suitable software modelling and development tools and techniques
  • Investigating issues arising in the field or during testing and providing solutions
  • Writing documentation for software
  • Collaborating with colleagues and managing time effectively
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Proficient in Java 17
  • Experience of developing on Linux
  • Thorough understanding of mocking and unit testing frameworks such as JUnit (Jupiter)
  • Experienced with Git version control
  • Knowledge of Agile Development using SCRUM
  • Appropriate Security Clearance
