About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our Product Safety Team at BAE Systems. As a Principal Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our submarine systems and capability development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with System Engineers to influence submarine systems and capability development, ensuring that safety considerations are integrated into the design and development process.
  • Develop and maintain safety requirements, hazard identification and analysis, and safety documentation to support the delivery of submarine systems.
  • Work closely with the Whole Boat Safety Team and other Integrated Development Teams to ensure that safety management systems are effective and efficient.
  • Support the development of safety cases and ensure that safety requirements are met throughout the Engineering Life Cycle Management process.
  • Contribute to the development of safety policies and procedures, and ensure that they are implemented effectively across the organization.

Requirements:

  • Obtained or predicted 2:2 in a Bachelor's or Master's Engineering degree.
  • Strong understanding of safety and systems engineering principles, and experience working in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to analyze complex safety data and develop effective safety solutions.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
