About the Role:

The Med Mal underwriting team at Hiscox is seeking a skilled and experienced underwriter to join their team. As a Senior Development Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in expanding the scope of underwriting in order to develop our medical malpractice book.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite consistently and profitably
  • Develop close, effective relationships with brokers
  • Negotiate with internal and external parties
  • Maintain and develop internal and external customer relations
  • Visit broker partners and write their business
  • Identify and challenge non-standard underwriting decisions
  • Identify non-performing broker accounts and take remedial steps

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years relevant Medical Malpractice underwriting or broking experience
  • ACII qualification or progression towards this
  • Demonstrable drive, self-motivation, and determination to achieve results
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Team player
  • Outgoing and confident
  • Ability to challenge the status quo
  • Consistently demonstrates behaviors conducive to achieving both personal and team objectives
