The University of Manchester is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Senior Lecturer to take on the role of Year 4 Oncology Block Lead. This is an exciting opportunity for a practicing physician/surgeon with a passion for medical education to join our team and contribute to the delivery of our undergraduate medical programme.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with the Year 4 Lead and Associate Academic Lead to ensure the successful delivery of the MBChB programme.
- Develop and implement academic content and learning materials for Year 4 MBChB, ensuring that all relevant content has specific and accurate learning outcomes.
- Map learning outcomes to the curriculum map and ensure that all e-learning materials are current and accurate prior to the commencement of each academic year.
- Support equity of learning for all students in Year 4 and provide content guidance and teaching resources for their respective block.
- Take a leading role in the development of content and facilitate question writing groups in liaison with the Year 4 Associate Lead for Assessment.
- Support the Year 4 Lead through the Assessment emendation group for their specialty block.
- Work with the assessment team to ensure accurate mapping of assessment materials to the taught materials in Year 4.
We are looking for a candidate with the following essential attributes:
- Practicing physician/surgeon with a primary medical qualification on the specialist register.
- Evidence of leadership qualities with a track record of involvement in undergraduate or postgraduate medical education.
- Understanding of medical education theory, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Able to effect organisational change through engagement at a local level with good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with key stakeholders in shaping and being actively involved in the continuous evaluation, development and improvement of MBChB programme teaching and learning for Year 4.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work alongside administrative staff to support high quality teaching and supervision.
Desirable attributes include:
- Current Clinical Placement Supervisor for one of the Clinical Education Providers (CEPs) for the Manchester MBChB Programme.
- Postgraduate qualification in Medical Education (PGcert, Diploma or MSc).
- Experience in medical education processes.
- Evidence of successful implementation of organisational change and quality improvement.
