Special Educational Needs Support Assistant

Location: Chesterfield

Salary: £95 - £110 per day

GSL Education Chesterfield is on the lookout for exceptional Special Educational Needs Support Assistants to join our vibrant educational community. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enabling students to achieve their utmost potential.

Position Overview: As a Special Educational Needs Support Assistant, your main responsibility will be to deliver personalized support that empowers these students to excel academically, socially, and emotionally.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate closely with educators and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to enhance students' learning strategies.
  • Support classroom teachers in managing student behavior and cultivating a positive educational atmosphere.
  • Encourage students in their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Monitor and document student progress, offering insights to teachers and parents.

Qualifications:

  • A qualification in teaching assistance (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Previous experience as a Special Educational Needs Support Assistant or in a related role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Exhibit patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to working with children with special needs.
  • Possess an updated CV (covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
