About the Role

As a Senior Traffic Dispatcher, you'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our depot, allocating vehicles, and routing them to ensure best-in-class service delivery to our customers. You'll also be responsible for maintaining health and safety standards, ensuring environmental compliance, and supporting employee engagement and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage route efficiency and optimize disposal outlets to ensure effective use of vehicles and facilities.
  • Manage driver availability and coverage to ensure suitable coverage at all times.
  • Perform administrative duties, including inputting pay and bonus information and accurate disposal data.
  • Proactively manage vehicles, including liaison with fleet, safe vehicle operations, and monitoring vehicle gross weights.
  • Supervise vehicle availability daily, ensuring drivers complete checks in accordance with company policy.
  • Contribute to ongoing cost control, actively seeking to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Ensure all administrative tasks associated with the Dispatch office are completed, including time sheets, tachograph records, payroll records, holiday rotas, and QLS resolution.
  • Work with the Depot Manager to deliver mandatory training, induction, and toolbox talks in line with company policy.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Health and safety management experience.
  • Knowledge of existing and impending environmental and health and safety legislation.
  • Experience managing in a labour-intensive, multi-shift environment.
  • Minimum GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Experience in a position of similar responsibility in Services or Logistics.
  • Local geographical knowledge.
  • Good transport and logistics knowledge.
  • Experience of first-line operational management.
  • Articulate, confident, and assertive communication skills.
