Job Responsibilities
Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing our society, and our team is tasked with determining the Government's response to these changes. Our mission is to leverage AI's potential for public benefit, enhancing lives and contributing to economic prosperity. By exploring AI's capabilities and the UK's talent pool, we aim to develop a competitive AI sector on a global scale while ensuring safe deployment across our economy.
This role is vital for the directorate's success in fulfilling this mission. You will manage essential functions that facilitate the effective operation of the directorate, working collaboratively across teams and overseeing a central team of six.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a corporate team, including direct supervision of an SEO Business Manager, SEO Director's Private Secretary, and oversight of an HEO Diary Manager and two EO Executive Assistants.
- Ensure the efficient operation of the director's private office, delivering high-quality service through the private secretary and diary manager.
- Continuously enhance business structures and products to support effective corporate management between the Directorate and DSIT's corporate functions, with a focus on Finance and HR processes.
- Implement and oversee governance and decision-making on corporate and personnel matters with senior leaders, including regular Senior Leadership Team meetings.
- Develop strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including the Director General’s Office and corporate business partners.
- Analyze corporate data on workforce and budgets, producing clear visualizations and presenting findings to the Senior Leadership Team as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:

- A proven background in business management or a similar role, collaborating with various policy leads to achieve successful outcomes.
- Experience in managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, including senior leaders.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex issues clearly to varied audiences.
- Experience in providing advice and briefings to senior leadership.
- Proficiency in working with data, ensuring confidence in finance and resourcing information.
- Experience in finance and budget management, leading financial planning and reviews.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel.
It would be advantageous if you have:
- Experience in line management, offering both task-oriented and pastoral support to team members.
- Familiarity with Microsoft PowerBi or similar business intelligence tools.
