We are a leading provider of maintenance and engineering services to the manufacturing industry, and we are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Manager to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to take on a leadership role and contribute to the success of our company.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering departments, consisting of approximately 25 individuals and contractors as and when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for the leadership of the Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering departments, including the ongoing development of the Mechanical Engineering Strategy, maintenance and overhaul plan in line with company objectives.
- Overall management of the Mechanical Maintenance department, including the development of maintenance and reliability strategies to drive productivity and efficiency.
- Responsibility for the Mechanical Maintenance Budget, including the management of resources and the development of cost-saving initiatives.
- Review of maintenance data to drive reliability improvements and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Organisation and management of all planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring the highest level of productivity and efficiency.
- Identification and management of continuous improvement (CI) projects across the department.
- Support to the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team to maintain and promote a safe operating culture within the department, ensuring all aspects of installation and maintenance are undertaken to the highest levels of safety and meet all legal and statutory requirements and company procedures.
- Management and drive of capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational excellence projects across the department and site.
- Collaboration with production operations, senior management, and suppliers to identify opportunities for process improvement and increase machine reliability and performance.
- Identification and management of performance management and training requirements of the team.
- Liaison with external contacts and bodies, including suppliers, contractors, and external agencies (HSE, insurance inspectors, etc).
Candidate Requirements:
- Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years' experience within an industrial manufacturing environment in a mechanical engineering role, with at least 5 years of these gained at a supervisory/management level.
- Apprentice-trained or qualified to a minimum HNC level in a practical mechanical engineering or maintenance discipline. Additional mechanical engineering degree is highly desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of computerised maintenance management systems.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to drive change management.
- Continuous improvement mindset, ideally with experience of driving CI and operational excellence projects.
- Previous experience of operating/working within a COMAH registered manufacturing environment would be highly desirable.
- Previous experience within industrial manufacturing environments is highly desirable, as would experience of process-based, high-hazard manufacturing.
