Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at NHS Jobs. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake and Record Tasks: You will be responsible for undertaking and recording tasks for which you have received appropriate training, including urinalysis and specimen preparation for investigation by the pathology laboratory.
  • Physiological Measurements: You will measure and record physiological measurements in routine presentations, including blood pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height, weight, body mass index, and visual acuity.
  • Basic Dressings and Stock Management: You will be responsible for ordering and maintaining stock levels and control in the treatment area, as well as preparing and maintaining environments during and after patient care interventions.
  • New Patient Health Checks: You will support the in-house services for cardiology and long-term conditions, and provide chaperone services for patients and clinicians.
  • Health and Well-being Promotion: You will assist in raising awareness of health and well-being, and how it can be promoted, and provide accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within your competence.
  • Confidentiality and Information Management: You will be responsible for maintaining confidentiality of information relating to patients, relatives, staff, and the practice, and take the necessary precautions when transmitting information.
  • Practice Policy and Procedures: You will understand and follow the requirements of confidentiality, including the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act, and refer any queries as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Appropriate Training and Experience: You will have received appropriate training and have experience in undertaking tasks related to patient care and support.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to provide accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups.
  • Confidentiality and Discretion: You will be able to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
