Our team consists of 2,800 dedicated individuals working across 8 bakeries, 1 flour mill, and 2 regional distribution centers. The success of Hovis is attributed to the expertise and commitment of our workforce, which encompasses various fields such as baking, manufacturing, logistics, engineering, and central functions based at our head office.
An exciting opportunity has emerged within our Bradford Bakery for an Engineering Team Leader to join our Engineering Division. This role is pivotal in overseeing, nurturing, and driving operational excellence within a team of Shift Engineers, focusing on continuous improvement and managing capital projects related to material usage on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with PPM and corrective maintenance work
- Manage budget effectively
- Optimize the ratio of operational to non-operational maintenance
- Monitor Health & Safety KPIs
- Provide technical support to operational Front Line Managers
- Oversee contractor work scoping and management
- Generate and implement improvement initiatives
- Share best practices across different sites
- Develop and manage the engineering team
- Ensure robust Health & Safety management
- Foster a culture of autonomous maintenance
- Engage in occasional high-tech maintenance activities
- Support reactive teams as needed
- Propose and manage capital projects up to £50k
- Ensure compliance with all relevant corporate and legal standards, including personal safety, food safety, quality, hygiene, and environmental regulations
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Adaptability and flexibility to meet changing operational demands
- Experience in Food or FMCG Engineering
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of basic baking processes
- Leadership and management experience
- Awareness of budget control
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices
Working Hours: The role operates Monday to Friday, with flexibility to accommodate business needs.
