About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our safety efforts and drive improvements in our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a site safety strategy and lead its implementation
  • Manage the health and safety team, including supervision of staff to ensure delivery of objectives
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and drive improvements in safety, quality, and productivity
  • Provide authoritative advice and guidance on health and safety matters to all stakeholders
  • Review and audit health and safety arrangements and continuously improve them
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce health and safety risks and recommend mitigations and processes
  • Ensure robust reporting regimes are in place for health and safety metrics
  • Provide management information and statistics related to health and safety
  • Support business change through effective change management processes
  • Drive behavioural culture change programme across a large, complex operation
  • Implement and review company global/EU safety policies to ensure local HSE requirements are met

Our Workplace Health and Safety team plays a critical role in keeping our people safe and well at work. We work with managers, associates, and local governments across our sites to ensure compliance with Amazon's policies and legal regulations.

Requirements
  • Education to a degree level and additional qualifications to an NVQ5/NEBOSH Diploma level
  • Experience managing and leading a team
  • Proficient knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and its application
  • Understanding of UK Environment, Health and Safety legislation
  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Lean, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies
  • Qualifications or experience in the field of sustainability
  • Relevant experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Chartered membership of a Human Resources industry body (e.g., IOSH)
