KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manufacturing technicians should possess a comprehensive understanding of plant operations, processes, and relevant equipment for their industry.
Key responsibilities include:
o monitoring and managing equipment, o collecting data and maintaining documentation, o executing isolations and de-isolations as necessary, o preparing work permits, o setting up complex machinery and equipment for maintenance, o getting complex machinery and equipment ready for operational start-up.
- Manufacturing technicians are also expected to detect production issues or failures within the plant/process/equipment.
- Perform initial corrective actions as required by the role.
- A manufacturing technician must be capable of interpreting Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID).
- Manufacturing technicians should be well-versed and competent in operating essential safety equipment.
- Manufacturing technicians should conduct task-based risk assessments and address hazards in accordance with company protocols.
- Manufacturing technicians should effectively communicate using various formats (verbal, written, and IT-based) with colleagues to ensure smooth information transfer and shift handover.
- Manufacturing technicians should have a solid understanding of industrial processes and practices.
The manufacturing technician will:
- Have the necessary skills to observe, collect, and report process data, perform isolations, and diagnose faults with a variety of plant/process/equipment and associated components.
- Be knowledgeable about health, safety, and environmental regulations and safe working practices, considering environmental and sustainability factors.
- Understand and adhere to reporting lines and procedures.
- Recognize the preparation and reinstatement requirements concerning the work area, materials, and equipment, and the potential consequences of incorrect actions in these areas.
- Propose suggestions and develop modification requests to enhance plant/equipment efficiency and safety of operations.
- Know which tools and equipment to utilize, and when, and follow relevant training, methods, techniques, and quality control and safety procedures for their use.
- Understand the types of defects and faults that may arise and the appropriate actions to take.
- Utilize a variety of process digital information, technology, and equipment to support work-related tasks and communicate information.
- Properly use permitting and authorization procedures to uphold high levels of plant and personnel safety.
- Be capable of reading and interpreting relevant P&ID drawings, related specifications, and quality standards.
- Identify defects in plant/process/equipment and assist with remedial actions as needed.
- Be aware of the regulated guidance and organizational requirements for the safe isolations and reinstatement of plant.

- Support operational requirements, meet targets, and maintain records as necessary, thereby minimizing backlog and downtime.
