Job Summary:

The Principal Auditor will play a key role in supporting the Head of Assurance and Audit Manager in delivering the Internal Audit and Counter Fraud Plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Assurance and Audit Manager in providing assurance on the effectiveness of the Council's systems of internal control, risk management, and governance processes.
  • Conduct risk assessments and work with the management team to ensure that controls adequately address identified risks, establishing whether they are working effectively.

Requirements:

  • Adhere to the Public Sector Internal Auditing Standards and the Council's policies on diversity, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
  • Experience of Internal Audit within the public sector, ideally in a local authority.
