Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Trust-Wide Safeguarding Children Advisor to become a vital member of our innovative and proactive Safeguarding & Vulnerable People Team.

We seek to appoint a driven and enthusiastic professional with leadership capabilities, possessing a comprehensive understanding of the safeguarding agenda for both adults and children, and promoting a THINK family approach throughout the organization.

The successful candidate must hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and have relevant safeguarding experience. They should demonstrate outstanding communication skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, offering guidance and support on safeguarding issues to staff and services, while assisting the team in delivering training and supervision.

Key Responsibilities

This role supports the leadership and operational execution of safeguarding practices across the Trust within a clinical governance framework.

The post holder will collaborate with the Lead for the Years Safeguarding Service to spearhead the advancement of Think Family practices across the Trust.

They will serve as a crucial liaison between staff, services, the Safeguarding and Vulnerable People Team, and external agencies such as law enforcement and social services, acting as a safeguarding role model by providing high-quality advice and support in individual cases.

The role includes ensuring connections with various external agencies and participating in multi-agency meetings both within and outside the Trust.

The post holder will advise senior clinicians and other healthcare professionals on safeguarding matters.

While working as part of a team, there will be opportunities to develop into an independent role.

Additionally, the post holder may be required to cover for colleagues during their absence.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must possess:

  • Current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Registration.
  • Training in safeguarding to level 3.
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding, including CRE and Prevent.
  • Knowledge of current issues related to safeguarding children.
  • Experience in interagency collaboration regarding safeguarding children.
