We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Edinburgh. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for large-scale projects, including pharmaceutical and data centre facilities. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safe and compliant installation of mechanical systems on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing mechanical systems in conjunction with fire strategy reports, local building regulations, and planning authority requirements.
  • Attending design team meetings to discuss project progress and requirements.
  • Carrying out site surveys of existing installations to inform design decisions.
  • Producing heating and cooling load calculations using industry software.
  • Sizing and selecting mechanical equipment, including AHUs, FCUs, extract fans, pumps, chillers, and boilers.
  • Producing above ground drainage calculations and sizing drainage systems.
  • Sizing and selecting domestic hot and cold-water equipment.
  • Producing pipe and duct sizing calculations using industry software or desktop spreadsheets.
  • Sizing and selecting firefighting sprinkler and pumping systems.
  • Preparing design reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Detailing mechanical layouts and schematics for build.
  • Meeting project delivery deadlines and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in mechanical engineering for construction projects.
  • Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Good knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, and EN Irish, UK standards or ASHRAE.
  • Working knowledge of design software, including Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, and IES/TAS.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment and adapt to new challenges.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
