About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Neurology Fellow to join our team at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) in Queen Square and/or the Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy. This ST1-2 Trust Grade (SHO Level) position offers an exceptional opportunity to gain valuable experience across various neurological subspecialties, including stroke, epilepsy, and movement disorders.
Your Responsibilities
- Patient Management: You will be responsible for the comprehensive care of inpatients with diverse neurological conditions. This includes evaluating patients, formulating accurate diagnoses, developing tailored treatment plans, and meticulously monitoring their progress throughout hospitalization.
- Ward and Daycare Responsibilities: Your role will involve rotations between inpatient ward duties and the daycare unit, ensuring holistic care for neurological patients. You will conduct thorough ward rounds, collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and maintain consistent patient care standards.
- On-Call Responsibilities: As part of this position, you will be scheduled for on-call shifts, including overnight duties at NHNN. During these periods, you will manage neurology inpatients independently, requiring strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Teaching and Education: You will actively participate in daily educational sessions, such as grand rounds, case discussions, and tutorials led by experienced consultants. These sessions are designed to enhance your clinical skills, particularly in preparation for MRCP PACES, with two dedicated sessions per week for this purpose.
- Collaboration and Supervision: You will work closely with a team of consultants, fellow doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals. A designated educational supervisor will provide ongoing support and guidance, and you will document your progress in an electronic portfolio.
