About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Quality and Safety Lead within the Medicine Clinical Board (MCB) at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

This exciting opportunity will support the provision of safe and effective healthcare to patients throughout the Clinical Board by ensuring effective and efficient quality, safety, and governance mechanisms are in place.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the Clinical Board Director of Nursing in promoting clinical incident reporting and ensuring accurate recording, investigation, and actioning of Patient Safety Incident reports in line with UHB Policy.
  • Provide support to the Director of Nursing in managing and developing Clinical Board arrangements for clinical governance and clinical risk management and patient safety and experience.
  • Develop and maintain areas of special interest in the field of Clinical Governance and patient safety and experience, as agreed with the Director of Nursing.
  • Support the Clinical Teams in developing and implementing strategies and systems for the continual improvement of services, including clinical governance, risk management, health and safety, and patient partnership.

Requirements
  • Previous experience of risk management/clinical governance.
  • Demonstrate a practical, problem-solving approach to risk management/clinical governance.
  • Experience of using Datix or similar software.
Key Skills
  • Working knowledge of relevant literature, research, and legislation relating to Clinical Governance and patient safety.
  • Risk assessment tools, methodologies, and management.
  • Trained in Root Cause Analysis techniques.
  • Interest and knowledge in the broad patient safety healthcare agenda.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Commitment to promoting safety and quality throughout the Organisation.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change.
Salary and Benefits

£44,398 to £50,807 per annum pro rata, with a range of benefits and opportunities for professional development.

Contract and Working Pattern

Permanent, part-time contract.
