About the Role

The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Vehicle Technician to join our team as a Fleet Maintenance Specialist. As a key member of our fleet workshop, you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and repairs on a range of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in excellent condition and ready for service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment to the highest standards
  • Diagnose and repair faults on complex vehicles and equipment
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve targets and deadlines
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and components used
  • Contribute to a safe and healthy working environment by adhering to health and safety policies and procedures

Requirements

  • HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Recognised Motor Vehicle Indentured Apprenticeship or training scheme
  • Motor Vehicle Craft Studies Parts 1, 2, & 3 or Motor Vehicle Technicians Parts 1, 2, & 3 or BTEC equivalent
  • Current clean driving license

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified to C1E+D1E driving license
  • Significant experience of fault finding and diagnosis within a vehicle or electronic field
  • Proficient experience of using diagnostic equipment to fault find within a medical device and equipment capacity
  • Previous experience of using complex tools and equipment to carry out technical repairs
