About the Role
We are seeking a skilled PFD Operator to join our team at GKN Aerospace's Filton site. As a PFD Operator, you will be responsible for conducting non-destructive testing and penetrant processing inspection of components to identify surface defects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct manual and automated penetrant testing on components to identify surface defects.
- Record value stream tasks within the site Risk Assessment Management tool and ensure accurate recording of risks and controls.
- Ensure parts are produced on a 'right first time' basis and that calibrated equipment is within date.
- Responsible for timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system and highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader.
- Adhere to GKNAF Quality Procedures and Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974.
- Hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval) and perform tasks, learning, understanding, and working to governing specifications.
- Ensure compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities.
- Champion 'Export Control' compliance activities, ensuring adherence to the site 'Technology Control Plan (TCP)', guaranteeing compliance with Export Control Regulations, controls, training, and systems.
Requirements
- Penetrant testing for EN 4179 Level 2 as a minimum.
- Comfortable working as part of a team toward a common objective.
- Previous manufacturing experience in a factory environment.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives.
- A background in mechanical/aerospace industry.
