Job Title: Head of Design and Engineering

Colt Technology Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our design and engineering efforts. As Head of Design and Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our data centre design and engineering aspects, including R&D and technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the technical strategy for Colt DCS, driving technical optimisation and system efficiencies across the business.
  • Manage a team of subject matter experts across various engineering disciplines, providing guidance, management, and assistance to other engineering and commissioning teams, site management teams, and operations.
  • Own the Colt DCS Global Reference Design (GRD) and update it regularly to meet the latest industry and business requirements.
  • Deliver engineering support to ensure the optimal use of technologies and designs on a cost-effective basis, implementing and standardising Colt's highest standards of cost, quality, and programme control throughout the design and build phases of multiple projects.
  • Work with other functions and end users/customers to ensure the product and design remain up to date and suitable.
  • Analyse design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Drive standardisation across the design to impact costs, speed, and quality of work.
  • Review equipment failures and diagnose faulty operations, ensuring lessons learned are documented and reviewed for future projects.
  • Collect and analyse data relating to operating efficiency of installed systems and equipment.
  • Undertake technical training to the remainder of the Real Estate team or wider business.
  • Ensure timely resolution of issues and deficiencies and develop and implement contingency plans to mitigate business risk.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
