Job Title: Healthcare Support Worker

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board.

About the Role

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will be responsible for assisting healthcare professionals with patient care, administering medications, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist healthcare professionals with patient care, including administering medications and performing various procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and develop care plans.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of patient care plans, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • Minimum of Qualification Credit Framework - QCF Level 3 (formerly NVQ Level 3) in Health or willingness to complete in agreed timeframe.
  • Evidence of maintaining personal development and continuing education.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the scope of the role in the context of the nursing team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales.
  • Understanding of basic physiology, e.g. normal vital signs, fluid balance, nutritional requirements.
  • Understands the principles of confidentiality and consent.
  • Understands the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player under appropriate supervision.
Desirable Criteria
  • Qualification Credit Framework - QCF Level 3 (formerly NVQ Level 3).
  • Evidence of attendance at courses/study days pertinent to specialty.
  • Understanding of caring for individuals with particular conditions; for example dementia, mental illness, learning disabilities relevant to area of practice.
