Water Research Centre (WRc) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Toxicologist to join our growing team.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the expansion of our toxicology services and drive future growth within the organization. You will play a key role in addressing challenges related to hazard and risk assessment of chemicals, collaborating with experts across various disciplines.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering exceptional technical expertise in hazard and risk assessment for our clients.
  • Developing and implementing a go-to-market strategy for scientific and regulatory services focused on human health and environmental toxicology, as well as risk assessment.
  • Supporting business development initiatives, including market engagement, proposal development, and securing new projects.
  • Leading project delivery while providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.
  • Providing line management within the team, fostering growth, development, and engagement of direct reports.

We are looking for an individual with:

  • A PhD or MSc in toxicology or a related field, coupled with demonstrable post-graduate experience in relevant sectors such as consumer healthcare, water industry, consumer products, or agrochemicals.
  • Extensive technical knowledge in toxicology, risk assessment, and chemical regulation.
  • Active membership in relevant professional bodies, such as the British Toxicological Society, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and delivery awareness, contributing to the development of high-performing teams and building trusted client relationships.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • A salary range from £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
