Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Childcare Practitioner to join our team at Fife Council's Out of School Clubs. As a Senior Childcare Practitioner, you will play a key role in providing a safe and engaging environment for children and young people, while their parents/carers attend work, training, or further education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the club, ensuring a high-quality service is delivered to children and young people.
  • Supervise a small team of childcare practitioners, providing guidance and support to ensure the best possible outcomes for children.
  • Plan and supervise activities with children and young people, promoting their physical, emotional, and social development.
  • Organize play areas, provide resources and equipment, and create a safe and inviting space for children to enjoy their leisure time.
  • Encourage independence, build self-esteem, and support children to try new skills and experiences.
  • Provide healthy and nutritious snacks, taking account of dietary and nutritional needs.
  • Support children and young people on a one-to-one basis when required, and deal with injuries and emergencies.
  • Build professional relationships with parents/carers and other professionals, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Think forward and be flexible in your approach, supporting the Childcare Manager with all aspects of the delivery of an effective out of school service.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has experience of working with children and young people within a play, care, or learning setting.
  • Has supervisory experience, preferably within a childcare service.
  • Holds a formal qualification such as an SVQ 3 Social Services (Children and Young People).
  • Is fun, engaging, adaptable, and passionate about working with children and young people.

  • A competitive salary of £28,251.00 to £31, pro rata.

Requirements:

  • Must obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland before appointment.
  • Must apply for SSSC registration within three months of appointment.
