Job Title: Principal Engineer

Westlakes Recruit is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our team on a staff basis. The successful candidate will have a background in nuclear or defence and be located in Cumbria with a hybrid working model of 2 days on site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with build organisation to ensure the as-built product reflects design intent.
  • Provide engineering support to test and authorisation groups.
  • Develop knowledge of the unique build sequence of the Reactor Compartment Unit.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of major construction evolutions.
  • Provide technical rationale and sound engineering recommendations.
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree level qualification in Mechanical or Structural discipline.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Awareness of weld engineering and Non-Destructive Examination techniques.
  • Technical report writing skills and experience of justifying design change.
  • Knowledge of stress, fatigue, and thermal analysis.
  • Nuclear radiation shielding awareness.
  • Previous Nuclear Plant experience.
  • Knowledge of the Nuclear Industry and its regulators.
