About the Deputy Manager Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team at the MiChild Group. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the daily operations of our nursery, working closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure the smooth running of the setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with the Nursery Manager on a daily basis to provide support and guidance to the team.
- Work as part of the nursery team to deliver high-quality care and education to our children.
- Make decisions on the day-to-day running of the nursery in the absence of the Manager.
- Follow all administrative procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Be a positive role model to other staff and provide guidance and support as needed.
- Have a thorough working knowledge of the nursery's policies and procedures.
- Assist in the training of staff and ensure that they are equipped to provide high-quality care and education.
- Manage staffing levels and deploy staff as needed to ensure that the nursery is fully staffed at all times.
- Attend meetings as part of the management team and contribute to decision-making.
- Be flexible with shifts and stay behind as needed to ensure that all shifts are covered.
- Conduct fire checks, read meters, and complete risk assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of children and staff.
- Ensure that the nursery consistently meets the requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage to a minimum good standard.
- Monitor safeguarding issues and follow local authority procedures.
- Prepare the nursery for Ofsted inspections and action any recommendations made by the inspector.
Requirements
- Must be Level 3 qualified.
- Have a detailed understanding of the requirements set by Ofsted.
- Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and experience of working with children and families.
- Extensive knowledge of Safeguarding.
- Experience of working in partnership with parents and outside agencies.
- Managing and maintaining administration requirements.
- Previous room supervisor or Deputy Manager experience working in a nursery environment.
- Enthusiasm, professionalism, and creativity.
Experience
- Childcare: 2 years (preferred).
Salary
£27,040 per year (negotiable depending on experience).
