Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with strong communication skills to contribute to our diverse team delivering comprehensive cardiac and respiratory services. Our organization is at the forefront of innovation, having established a successful integrated service for cardiology outpatients, while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to enhance services for patients experiencing chest pain and heart failure.
The cardio-respiratory department has undergone significant expansion and modernization, offering an exceptional working environment equipped with cutting-edge technology. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in achieving key strategic objectives. Our Echo Service encompasses adult Transthoracic, Transoesophageal, and Stress Echo Imaging, utilizing advanced digital technology.
The echocardiography department is outfitted with three state-of-the-art digital GE Vivid E machines, complete with digital reporting and archiving capabilities. We are looking for a dedicated cardiac physiologist to join our team. Candidates should possess a relevant BSc or equivalent qualification and hold BSE accreditation. It is preferred that applicants demonstrate sufficient post-accreditation experience to meet the demands of the role. The successful candidate will primarily focus on Echocardiography while also maintaining or expanding their expertise in other technical cardiology areas.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct specialized diagnostic cardiology ultrasound/sonography assessments, ensuring precise results, particularly in Echocardiography, while collaborating with cardiologists, surgeons, and specialized nursing staff.
- Independently report on routine diagnostic tests, with results communicated to the referring consultant.
- Provide reports on complex diagnostic tests without medical input unless a cardiology consultation is deemed necessary, guiding the medical and surgical management of patients.
- Maintain accurate patient records in both electronic and written formats.
- Submit and manage activity data using both manual and electronic methods in accordance with departmental and health board policies.
- Offer clinical interpretation of ambulatory ECG monitors, event recorders, and blood pressure recordings, producing clinical reports that inform patient management.
- Oversee technical aspects of cardiovascular investigations, including stress testing and myocardial perfusion testing, which assess cardiac function and may involve significant risks.
- Provide clinical oversight in the absence of a physician during stress testing, identifying potentially hazardous arrhythmias and ECG changes.
