About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Polaris Education. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Classroom Teacher during lessons and providing individualized support to pupils.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide dedicated support to one pupil or a small group of up to six pupils, promoting their academic and personal growth.
  • Assist the Classroom Teacher in planning and preparing lessons, ensuring a smooth and engaging learning experience for pupils.
  • Monitor and report on pupils' progress, concerns, and achievements, collaborating with other school staff to ensure their needs are met.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips, fostering a safe and supportive environment.
  • Contribute to lesson planning, classroom preparation, and setting work where appropriate, promoting positive learning outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, driving interaction and engagement, and promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
Requirements
  • A strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant, with a proven track record of supporting pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • Experience of behavior management and techniques, with a commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
  • Able to take additional responsibility in areas such as Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, or School Yoga, and willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
