Job Summary

V-Recruit is partnering with a reputable Multi-Academy Trust to recruit a Catering Assistant for one of their secondary schools in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food to staff and students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food to staff and students
  • Produce meals of consistently high standards on a daily basis
  • Follow food hygiene and cleanliness standards in the kitchen in accordance with health and safety, food hygiene, and COSHH regulations at all times
  • Wash dishes, cutlery, tumblers, jugs, serving utensils, tables, and all other catering equipment in the catering environment
  • Clean on a daily basis all catering areas to an agreed standard, keeping them free from hazards
  • Act as a cashier as required, under supervision
  • Ensure the safe operation of all kitchen equipment
  • Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses, including notifiable diseases, in a timely manner
Job Specifics
  • Hourly rate: £11.50 per hour
  • 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10am-2pm
  • Term time only
  • Initially 4-8 weeks work, potential to be extended
Candidate Requirements
  • Hold a Level 2 or equivalent in Food Hygiene, or have demonstrable experience of working at that level
  • Be willing to undergo or enhance additional training as required by the role
  • Undergo an Enhanced DBS check for the Child Workforce
  • Have extensive previous experience working within a catering/kitchen environment
  • Understand excellent customer service and be able to communicate with school-age students appropriately
