About the Role

BAM Nuttall is seeking a skilled Instrumentation and Monitoring Engineer to join our team in Godstone, Surrey. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of projects to time, budget, and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to ensure the successful implementation of instrumentation and monitoring systems.
  • Assist in the planning and procurement of instruments and sensors.
  • Install and maintain geotechnical and structural instrumentation, and monitor readings.
  • Conduct Health and Safety Risk Assessments and develop plans.
  • Support the design of instrumentation and monitoring systems.
  • Manage data, data processing, and reporting in a precise and timely manner.
  • Oversee the hiring, maintenance, servicing, and repair of monitoring equipment.
  • Ensure the installation and operation of monitoring equipment comply with specifications and do not delay construction programs.
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of monitoring data for risk management and validation of design assumptions.
  • Ensure baseline readings are taken before construction activity, as specified in Designers and Contractors Monitoring Plans.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in geotechnical/geological engineering or a similar discipline.
  • IT systems awareness to operate I&M specific software, SharePoint, and bespoke reporting applications.
  • Full driving license valid in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications
  • One to three years' experience in construction of comparable schemes.
  • Familiarity with relevant I&M specifications and standards/codes of practice.
  • Practical experience and theoretical knowledge of instrumentation installations and processes.
  • Able to assist in project planning and identify engineering and quality risks.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of documentation.
  • Ability to identify ambiguities in I&M specifications and interpret specifications, data, and drawings correctly.
  • Contribute to ensuring policies, processes, and procedures support compliance.
  • Ability to understand drawings and communicate with site personnel and workforce.
  • Awareness of construction site health and safety.
