Financial Systems Controls Specialist (Internal Auditor)

This position is a full-time opportunity, with flexibility for a 4-day work week for candidates possessing extensive and relevant expertise in Financial Systems Controls and IT Auditing.

We seek candidates who are preferably Qualified Accountants or have a robust understanding of Accounting, combined with specific experience in Financial Systems, Financial ERP systems, and IT Audits.

Key Qualifications:

Applicants must demonstrate significant prior experience in implementing and auditing financial controls, with a focus on IT Audit, Financial Systems, Information Systems Audit, and Financial Controls, whether from an External or Internal Auditor perspective or as a Financial Systems Controls Specialist.

This role presents a unique opportunity to influence the control framework surrounding financial systems for a leading organization in its sector. It is an exciting time to join the Controls/Internal Audit team during a phase of substantial investment and transformation of systems.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Evaluating the effectiveness of current systems, controls, processes, and procedures across the organization.
  • Identifying deficiencies and potential areas for enhancement, developing and implementing robust control frameworks and standard operating procedures to ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards.
  • Conducting regular risk assessments to pinpoint control weaknesses, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and external consultants to design and execute remediation plans addressing control deficiencies and mitigating identified risks.
  • Monitoring and analyzing financial transactions and systems to detect suspicious or fraudulent activities, errors, or other anomalies.
  • Performing routine and ad hoc internal audits to ensure compliance with established controls and identify potential enhancements.
  • Staying informed about developments in financial auditing, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements, while introducing industry best practices to the organization.
  • Providing guidance and training to finance and operational teams on control procedures, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Assisting the Finance team in preparing for external audits, liaising with auditors to supply necessary documentation and support during audit engagements.
  • Generating detailed reports and presentations to communicate control findings, recommendations, and progress to management.

Desired Skills:

  • Must be a qualified Accountant or possess substantial experience specifically in Finance, Accounting, ERP, and Financial Systems controls.
  • Extensive experience in implementing and auditing financial controls with a focus on Financial Systems, Information Systems Audit, IT Auditing, and Financial Controls.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, COSO) and experience in establishing and maintaining compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in analyzing financial data, identifying control weaknesses, and proposing effective solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and explain complex financial concepts.
  • Proficiency in utilizing financial software and systems (e.g., ERP systems, Consolidation systems, data analysis tools).
  • Ability to devise practical solutions in a transformational systems environment.
  • While not mandatory, it is preferable to be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or equivalent.
