Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate 1:1 Tutor to join our team at Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council. As a 1:1 Tutor, you will work closely with students who require additional support to engage in learning, providing personalized guidance and encouragement to help them achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support to students in the community, helping them to develop their English, Maths, and Emotional Literacy skills.
  • Work collaboratively with students to identify their strengths and areas for improvement, and develop personalized learning plans to support their progress.
  • Use a range of strategies and techniques to engage students and promote their motivation and engagement in learning.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the well-being and self-esteem of all students.
Requirements
  • Previous experience of working with young people with additional needs is desirable, but not essential.
  • A reasonable grasp of basic IT programs is required.
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently, with a high level of resilience and patience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to the values and ethos of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council, including a focus on student-centered learning and the promotion of social, emotional, and mental well-being.
