We are pleased to announce an opening for a Pharmaceutical Care Technician to become a vital member of our team at the Cheltenham Peripheral Network.

The Cheltenham Peripheral Network encompasses multiple healthcare facilities dedicated to serving a large patient population. Our collaborative approach ensures comprehensive care across various locations.

This role offers the flexibility of full-time or part-time hours, allowing for a balanced work-life integration.

Role Expectations

Reporting directly to the Lead Clinical Pharmacist, you will be required to travel between our various facilities to fulfill your responsibilities. This dynamic environment is designed to enhance your professional growth and experience. We value the significant impact that a Pharmaceutical Care Technician can have on patient outcomes, and we offer the option to work remotely when necessary.

Comprehensive training will be provided by our Lead Pharmacist and recognized national organizations. You will also have access to a robust pharmacy network within the region. Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be self-driven, well-organized, and eager to contribute to a forward-thinking team. You should be capable of providing sound advice to patients and collaborating effectively with healthcare professionals, including GPs, nurses, and community pharmacists. Proficiency in IT systems is essential, and familiarity with specific clinical software is advantageous but not mandatory.

Job Duties

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with patients to facilitate effective medication use through shared decision-making.
  • Conducting medication optimization tasks, including administration checks and supporting medication reviews.
  • Assisting in the execution of medication management initiatives and safety audits.
  • Supporting medication reviews and reconciliation for new patients transitioning between care settings.
  • Providing specialized knowledge to address public health and social care needs, including lifestyle guidance and service information.
  • Playing a key role in clinical aspects of shared care protocols and collaborating with specialist pharmacists for complex cases.
  • Contributing to antimicrobial stewardship initiatives to minimize inappropriate prescribing.
  • Assisting in the implementation of national prescribing policies and guidelines across various healthcare settings.

  • A solid understanding of data protection and confidentiality standards.
  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle.

Required Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have:

  • Professional registration with the relevant regulatory body.
  • A BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Experience Requirements

  • Experience working as a registered pharmaceutical technician in primary care, community, or hospital settings.
