Opportunity for a Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU) Specialist

Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme

Salary: £36,900.48

Working Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 08:00 – 17:00, with periodic on-call duties.

We are looking for a committed Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU) Specialist to join our operations in Newcastle-under-Lyme. In this role, you will be responsible for performing inspections, servicing, and repairs of vehicles, trailers, and equipment according to established protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all repairs comply with DVSA standards.
  • Follow safety, environmental, and maintenance regulations.
  • Work closely with the VMU shift Coordinator and Logistics team to ensure vehicle readiness for delivery schedules.
  • Meet shift performance indicators effectively.
  • Address any safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Utilize resources efficiently for all tasks.
  • Maintain vehicles in accordance with Company and DVSA standards.
  • Coordinate with Transport and Logistics for vehicle availability.
  • Effectively manage subcontractor resources.
  • Be adaptable to undertake additional VMU responsibilities as required.
Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • City and Guilds LGV Qualifications or equivalent LGV Vehicle Crafts certification.
  • LGV Licence C+E.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in LGV fleet maintenance.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
