Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Install and commission high voltage switchgear and electrical equipment in accordance with engineering specifications and diagrams.
  2. Conduct thorough tests, inspections, and functional checks to ensure proper installation and adherence to safety standards.
  3. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to design and implement switchgear installations.
  4. Read and interpret electrical and engineering drawings, specifications, and layouts for installation tasks.
  5. Perform wiring, cabling, and interconnections of switchgear components using appropriate tools and techniques.
  6. Ensure proper termination and insulation of cables to prevent short circuits and maintain electrical integrity.
  7. Verify proper functioning of switchgear components, such as circuit breakers, relays, and meters.
  8. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during installation and testing, and assist with repairs as needed.
  9. Coordinate with other trades and contractors to ensure seamless integration of switchgear equipment with other systems.
  10. Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  11. Document completed installations, test results, and maintenance activities, maintaining accurate records.
  12. Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Switchgear Installation Engineer / Fitter or similar role, preferably in high voltage systems.
  • ECS Card Required
  • Sound knowledge of switchgear and electrical equipment used in power transmission and distribution.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and safety procedures.
  • Experience in wiring and cabling switchgear components and using electrical hand tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot installation issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

This role requires a skilled Switchgear Installation Engineer / Fitter with experience in high voltage systems and a passion for electrical engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining high voltage switchgear systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
