Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team. This is a contract-to-hire position that requires a strong background in configuring, monitoring, and maintaining network servers, data storage equipment, and mobile computing devices.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate and recommend resolutions for current hardware and software configuration issues.
- Lead the development of software and hardware configuration, deployment, and administration procedures.
- Establish client access to networks, ensuring individual security access based on predefined guidelines, and address basic connectivity problems.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve user network, telecommunications, and other software and hardware issues, including production halts and network malfunctions.
- Install, configure, and customize a variety of network and other hardware and software systems across all locations.
- Manage, design, and maintain websites and intranets, including web filter and user profiles to monitor and limit web access.
- Evaluate networks and recommend improvements, researching and recommending new hardware and software.
- Develop and test required hardware, operating system, and application configuration requirements.
- Write procedures and work instructions for both the IT Department and end users.
- Monitor ongoing network performance and maintain records of system activities.
- Proficiency in desktop operating systems and affiliated software components, services, protocols, and technologies.
- Familiarity with virtual server environments, mobile devices, and website design.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to comprehend and create technical materials and write procedures and work instructions.
- Capability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of department policies, practices, and procedures, as well as security standards and procedures.
- Respond to end-user support requests with empathy and dignity.
- Suggest process and standards improvements based on gathered experiences during end-user interactions.
- Utilize in-person and electronic means to interactively diagnose and resolve issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows 10/11 and Google Android ecosystems.
- Skilled in building images for, deploying, and managing laptops (Dell), tablets (Samsung), and cell phones (Samsung).
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365/Azure and Cisco product ecosystems.
- Ability to configure, monitor, and maintain both physical and virtual network servers.
- Perform user account maintenance within Microsoft 365 and hybrid Active Directory/Azure Active Directory management consoles.
- Willingness to travel to other sites to perform IT Department related tasks.
- Apply industry best practices in IT processes and handling confidential information.
- Interact with outside vendors and contractors, monitor case progress, and escalate as needed, managing the relationship through full case completion.
- Be available and responsive during non-traditional work times when called upon.
- Ensure all owned tasks are fully completed to the requester's satisfaction.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field AND three (3) years of work experience supporting or maintaining computer systems, through troubleshooting user problems; OR
- Associate's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field AND four (4) years of work experience as stated above.
- A valid New York State Class D driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout the appointment to this title.
