Job Title: Principal Ecologist

GreenJobs Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Ecologist to join our team. As a key member of our ecological services team, you will be responsible for overseeing all ecological works for our projects throughout the UK.

The Role

As a Principal Ecologist, you will be responsible for undertaking and managing ecological surveys in support of planning applications and projects. This will include field work, organisation of subcontractors and specialist consultants, report writing, and desk-based works. You will also be expected to grow the ecological team under your guidance through business development and quality service.

You will work closely with our team to ensure successful project outcomes and will be expected to generate and maintain your own portfolio of projects and clients. You will also support colleagues with their workloads.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proven track record in consultancy, with experience of PEA, EcIA, and protected species surveys.
  • Working knowledge of the Scottish planning system, including planning policy and species survey/impact assessment guidance.
  • Understanding of the risks and hazards associated with outdoor working and remote working.
Desirable but NOT Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Bat Survey Licence Holder.
  • A degree in a relevant ecological field.
  • CSCS Card Holder (ecologist).
  • Tree climbing and aerial rescue qualification.
