Role Overview and Requirements

Skanska, a prominent name in the global project development and construction sector, is undertaking a significant improvement initiative on a major roadway project. This endeavor aims to enhance a crucial transport link, facilitating smoother travel for individuals in the surrounding regions.

As we embark on this transformative project, we are seeking skilled Sub Agents to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction activities within your designated section of the project. Your focus will be on ensuring that all tasks are meticulously planned, executed, and finalized with a commitment to excellence. You will work collaboratively with an Agent and other team members, but you are expected to take the lead in the detailed planning and execution of your section.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster a productive and positive work environment for your team.
  • Conduct inspections of temporary works.
  • Analyze designs and communicate technical inquiries to the design teams.
  • Develop a 3-month lookahead schedule for your section, ensuring it aligns with the overall project timeline.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate site records for all activities, promptly communicating any changes.
  • Ensure timely and precise requisitions for equipment and materials.
  • Capture and properly store quality records.
  • Generate and manage Non-Conformance Records, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Establish and uphold clear health and safety expectations for your team and suppliers.
  • Promote environmental management standards within your section.
  • Identify and implement strategies to minimize carbon emissions associated with your section.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, or an HND in Civil Engineering with relevant vocational training.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for diverse audiences.
  • A solid understanding of engineering principles and standard construction practices.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts, gained through experience and formal training.
  • Progressing towards or holding a Professional Industry Qualification (IEng, CEng, etc.).
  • Proficiency in digital tools, including MS Office and document control systems.
  • Formal training in Health & Safety and Environmental management (SMSTS).
  • A valid CSCS Card.
  • A full UK driving license is essential for highway projects.
  • Legal authorization to work in the UK is required.
Experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
  • Excavation works (HSG47, managing permits to dig).
  • Lifting Operations (CPCS A61 Lifting Appointed Person).
  • Temporary Works (Supervisor, designer, or coordinator with formal training).
  • Concrete works (previous experience as a site-based engineer).
  • Structural steelwork (previous experience as a site-based engineer).
