Job Description

Job Summary

The Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a Senior Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality sexual and reproductive health care to patients, including delivering nurse-led clinics for sexual health and contraception.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality sexual and reproductive health care to patients, including delivering nurse-led clinics for sexual health and contraception.
  • Provide clinical supervision to Band 3-5 staff and facilitate the learning experience and environment for nurses and other health professionals undergoing training and education in the department.
  • Supervise and mentor students undertaking contraceptive and sexual health courses.
  • Manage a range of symptomatic and asymptomatic female and male cases, including discharge, genital ulceration, and genital warts.
  • Participate in audit, quality, and service improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • RGN (NMC Sub-part 1 Adult branch)
  • nDFRSH/University Certificate in Contraception/Reproductive Health or equivalent recognized training, or willingness to train
  • LOC SDI or equivalent qualification or willingness to train
  • Substantive post-registration experience and experience in Sexual Health
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to discuss matters of sex and sexuality
  • Experience in managing asymptomatic GUM patients and Contraceptive patients in a nurse-led setting
  • Experience of working to PGDs in Sexual Health
  • Understanding of clinical guidelines and policies
  • Sensitive to the needs of a multi-cultural client group
  • Ability to work with young people
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as a member of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Flexible and adaptable to the role/work
  • Experience in teaching new and junior staff
  • Competent in: Female genital examination
  • Competent in: Venepuncture
  • Competent in: HIV PTD
  • Competent in: Sexual Health Promotion

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience of working in an outreach setting
