About the Role

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our dynamic research team focused on the development of engineered fungal-bacterial systems for sensing and transmitting molecules in soil. This exciting opportunity will allow you to contribute to cutting-edge advancements in applied synthetic biology, with potential applications in environmental monitoring and remediation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct original research on engineered microbial systems for sensing and transmitting molecules in soil environments.
  • Contribute to the development of novel synthetic biology tools and techniques for microbiome engineering.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, including engineers, biologists, and computer scientists.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact scientific journals.
  • Mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate students involved in the research project.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in molecular cloning and synthetic biology techniques.
  • Experience with biomedical protein production is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
