About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Engineer to join our Medical Devices Advisory Unit (MDAU) team. As a Clinical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing expert consultancy on medical device clinical applications, technologies, research, management, safety, and related regulatory matters.

The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications to postgraduate level or equivalent, coupled with relevant practical working experience and a sound knowledge of engineering and scientific principles. Medical engineering experience gained in a healthcare environment is desirable, though experience gained in other industrial medical technology settings may be transferable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert consultancy on medical device clinical applications, technologies, research, management, safety, and related regulatory matters.
  • Support the engineering activities of the Medical Engineering & Instrumentation Unit (MEIU), which provides manufacturing and metrology services.
  • Collaborate with the department's multi-specialist team of engineers to develop and implement medical device solutions.
  • Contribute to the development and low-volume production of novel medical devices to address unmet clinical needs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for in-house use and supply to external organisations.
