We are seeking a skilled Transport Operations Manager to oversee our dynamic transport team at a leading multi-temperature distribution center. This pivotal role involves ensuring the efficient and timely dispatch of goods to retail and convenience outlets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a fleet of drivers and support personnel, ensuring adherence to company protocols.
  • Deliver exceptional service to our store network.
  • Achieve operational targets consistently on a weekly and monthly basis through effective utilization of the Integrated Transport Management System.
  • Conduct briefings for drivers at the start of each shift, sharing planned requirements and updates on performance and procedures.
  • Foster positive relationships with union representatives and encourage constructive dialogue on-site.
  • Enhance communication with stores to streamline operations.
  • Ensure compliance with the Road Traffic Act and health and safety regulations.
  • Motivate and guide the transport team to maintain high performance standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required for the smooth operation of the department.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a transport environment.
  • Strong knowledge of transport legislation.
  • Familiarity with computerized scheduling and driver management systems is advantageous.
  • Experience in supervising or managing a team effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in PC usage.
  • A collaborative and flexible approach to teamwork.
  • General awareness of health and safety practices.
