**Job Summary**

NES Fircroft is seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team on a contract basis. As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a crucial role in the development and delivery of mechanical designs for a major sub-system within a direct air capture plant solution.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Develop the mechanical design of a key sub-system within a direct air capture solution, working closely with the performance team to develop innovative solutions to capturing CO2 at large scale and at low cost.
  • Utilize supply chain data to understand solution cost and manage cost models for the design, ensuring that the design is cost-effective and efficient.
  • Develop low-cost, low-risk methods of solution production and assembly, collaborating with the deployment team to ensure a robust supply chain can be developed for the design.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that the mechanical design meets the required specifications and is aligned with the company's goals and objectives.

**Requirements**

  • **Education**: Degree level or equivalent qualification in engineering or science.
  • **Experience**: At least five years' mechanical design engineering experience in a relevant industry, such as automotive or other volume, large scale manufacturing industries.
  • **Skills**: Strong competency in CAD software (ideally SolidWorks) and a track record of delivering mechanical designs for novel systems, with a particular focus on design for cost, manufacture, and assembly.
