Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Laboratory Manager to lead our analytical laboratory team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering high-quality results to our clients.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lab Operations: Manage the laboratory operations, including sample preparation, routine analysis, and reporting.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of laboratory analysts, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality results.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including ISO 17025 and 17020, and maintain UKAS accreditation.
  • Method Development: Develop and validate new analytical methods, and manage the delivery of method development and validation projects.
  • Technical Documentation: Manage the preparation and review of technical documents, including laboratory reports and quality management system documents.
  • Customer Interaction: Interact with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal and external auditors to ensure effective communication and delivery of results.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor laboratory performance against safety and quality metrics, identify deviations, and implement remedial actions as necessary.
  • Staff Management: Manage staff as a Line Manager, including performance management, training, and development.

Requirements:

  • Education: HND in Science or equivalent qualifications plus experience.
  • Experience: Considerable analytical laboratory experience, including radiochemical and chemical knowledge and experience.
  • Skills: Good oral and written communication skills, team worker, able to interact effectively with staff at all levels, good organisational and planning skills, self-motivated and flexible.
