We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Advanced Pharmacist to join our Cardiovascular Pharmacy Team at King's College Hospital.

Job Overview

This is a unique opportunity to work in a specialist cardiac centre, offering both secondary and tertiary care to patients across South East London, South East England, and beyond.

Main Duties
  1. Deputise for the Principal Pharmacist, Cardiovascular Care Group
  2. Act as a specialist role model and an expert in the medical management within the Cardiovascular Care Group
  3. Lead and manage clinical pharmacy services in the Cardiovascular Care Group in conjunction with the Principal Pharmacist
  4. Develop and participate in outpatient clinics to deliver and promote high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-focused pharmaceutical care
  5. Actively participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, delivering and promoting high-quality, cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical care
  6. To work with the Associate Chief Pharmacist, Clinical Services to develop, manage, and support non-medical prescribing within pharmacy and the Trust
  7. To provide specialist pharmacist input into the Trust Non-Medical Prescribing Group (NMPG) including the management of Patient Group Directions and Written Instructions
  8. Development, implementation, and audit of local guidelines
  9. Supervise and train pharmacy staff at ward level
  10. Provide education and training of healthcare professionals within and outside the Trust
  11. Financial reporting, drug usage, and expenditure forecasting, drug budget management, and work on CIPs (cost improvement programmes)
  12. To participate in practice and clinical research and audit
Person Specification
  • MPharm (Masters Degree)
  • Registered Pharmacist (1 year competency assessed and examined professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in pharmacy practice or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to area of practice
  • Experience of working with senior healthcare professionals outside of pharmacy
  • Experience of supervising others
  • Experience of protocol/guideline development
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
  • Be able to provide highly complex information on medicines use, clinical pharmacy, and financial issues to all levels of healthcare professionals (up to and including senior consultants/professor level)
  • Able to implement and manage change
  • Ability to work well under pressure by prioritising and managing time effectively
  • Registered independent prescriber of willingness to complete
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Able to motivate self and others
  • Be able to influence junior medical staff, the multidisciplinary team
  • Member of the RPS faculty
  • Demonstration of advanced practice using evidence mapped to the RPS Advanced Practice Framework
